In the News: Charleston Lawyer Raising Money for Bullet-Proof Vests for Law Enforcement in Honor of Peace Officers Memorial Day

Peace Officers Memorial Day is held annually in the United States on May 15 in honor of federal, state and local officers killed or disabled in the line of duty. It is observed in conjunction with National Police Week.  Charleston attorney Rust Webb is honoring this day by sponsoring a fundraiser to raise money towards purchasing ballistic vests and body armor for law enforcement departments within the State of West Virginia.

According to Concerns of Police Survivors (COPS), about 140-160 officers are killed in the line of duty each year and their families and co-workers are left to cope with the tragic loss.   Often times this tragedy could be prevented if the officer had been wearing protective body armor.  Unfortunately ballistic vests and similar protective armor are often very costly, which leads to local law enforcement agencies often not having access to this type of armor for all of their officers.

Mr. Webb is hoping to raise awareness and pay tribute to those fallen in the line of duty by raising money to help provide local police departments with this much needed protective gear.  You can help contribute by purchasing one of the custom-made ball caps that the Webb Law Centre, PLLC has for sale with a local law enforcement agency’s initials on it.   One hundred percent of all donations will go towards local law enforcement agencies purchase of protective body armor.

Donate or visit the office located at 716 Lee Street, East, Charleston.  The minimum donation is $20.00 per cap.
